Just like a family

Our Rescue Team

Nadja

Founder

Actually, I always wanted to become a veterinarian, but back in 1981 I turned to human medicine.

But as of right now, my original life’s dream is catching up with me after all – namely to stand up for animals and  advocate for them. A house in Greece was enough for this platform. First of all, my children Nina and Gregor, together with me, provided all our friends and acquaintances with dogs that we found in parks, landfills and other places. Soon we realized that the need was much greater and more dramatic than it seemed at first.

The condition of the street dogs living in Greece is frightening and pathetic – as well as the masses of puppies that are dumped and disposed of in boxes, crates, plastic bags or just like that, in the most impossible places and locations.
I couldn’t get over these conditions and images.

Our 2017 Christmas wish was to start a dog sanctuary together to make room for the injured, starving, and sick, and to capture and take in all the young, lost, wandering puppies until we find the homes we long for.

In 2019, the time had finally come. The sanctuary was built. Since then I have been living my inner calling and dream that one day every animal will be provided with respect and basic medical care.

Volunteering, Social Media, Organisation

Animals have been with me all my life and I learnt early on how important it is to take responsibility for them. When I travelled to Greece, I was repeatedly confronted with the suffering of countless animals – images that deeply touched and influenced me. It was clear to me that looking and actively changing something was a task close to my heart. Paws with Love gives me exactly this opportunity to get involved. Whether in the shelter, writing texts or maintaining the social media and website – I provide support wherever I am needed. I am happy and proud to be part of this wonderful family that works day in, day out to help animals in need.

Adoptions, Pre-checks

Animals, especially dogs, have always played a special role in my life – as fluffy ‘shoulders to lean on’, adventurous travelling companions or simply as loyal friends. That’s why I took in foster dogs in addition to my own dog in my first flat share during my studies. That’s how I came across Paws with Love a few years and a few foster dogs later. But after the first dogs I realised that I wanted to become more active! So I was allowed to spend my first stay in Greece and become part of the placement group!

Volunteering, Social Media

I have witnessed the misery of animals in Greece since I was a child. It breaks my heart when I see emaciated and mistreated dogs wandering the streets or becoming victims of cruel attacks. Unfortunately, this is the sad reality in many parts of Greece. The animals cannot speak for themselves and that is why I want to raise my voice for them. I am campaigning with all my strength and conviction that these innocent creatures deserve a better life. Together with the dedicated people at Paws with Love I want to help improve the situation for animals in Greece.

Social Media, Documentation, Organisation

I had a faithful dog friend and grew up with animals since I was a little child and now I have it again since 2020. There I fell in love with this little girl in the picture. And that is where it all began.
Since then, I have been active in the association, taking care of the social media channels, E-Mails,  contracts and documentations.  My goal is to be a voice for
our fur noses and to tell their stories. Because each of these dogs deserves a voice.

Adoptions, Volunteering

While travelling through Greece in my camper van, I came across the misery of the many street dogs every day.

These experiences awakened in me the desire to actively help.

Through Paws with Love, I had the opportunity to meet numerous wonderful dogs – each one unique and lovable.

Since then, I have been passionately committed to giving these special animals the chance of a loving home, whether directly on site or in the placement process.

Adoptions, Pre-checks

In addition to my full-time job, I was looking for something where I not only give, but also get a lot back and by chance I came across the organisation.

Starting with a foster dog, I quickly became part of the great team. Whether it’s initial interviews, preliminary checks, helping out on site or taking a foster dog home, seeing an animal find its forever home is a goosebump moment every time.

That’s why I do my best every day to create more moments like that and I’m grateful to be a part of it all through Paws with Love.

Helps directly in Greece

Even as a child, I grew up with a dog – my best friend with fur! My heart has been beating for animals from an early age, and this deep love is still with me today. At Paws with Love, I put my heart and soul into my work – whether in the home, on walks or in the care of our protégés. I would do anything to help animals and give them a loving life. No matter how challenging everyday life in animal welfare is, my passion for dogs and my unwavering commitment drive me every day. I am there for our four-legged friends with total commitment and compassion – because when you have such a heart for animals, you simply can’t help it.

We are looking for a home!

Many of our foundlings and dogs rescued from the street are waiting at our shelter for their ‘forever home’.

Take a look around and maybe you will discover your new soul dog.

In order to provide our rescued dogs with the care they need, we rely on your donation. Every Euro counts!
